We invite you on a trek to Monte Castello, nestled in the Apennine woods, in a setting of remarkable historical and scenic significance. This site was strategic on the Gothic Line and the stage of the most important battle fought by the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) during the harsh winter of 1944–45.
The Bolognese Apennines, on the border with Tuscany, will provide the backdrop for this easy circular route along safe and well-marked CAI trails. Along the way, we will visit memorials dedicated to the FEB in Abetaia and Guanella, honoring the Brazilian soldiers, and learn more about their vital contribution during the Second World War.
The day will conclude with a visit to the Museum of Iola in Montese (MO), which houses artefacts from the Second World War and beyond. To reach the museum, we will return to our cars for a 15-minute drive
