Castel di Casio

Located on the Apennines in the Limentra stream valley, between the Suviana Basin and the confluence with the Reno River, it was the seat of the Captains of the Mountain (Capitani della Montagna) in medieval times, until the 15th century, when the seat was transferred to Vergato. Among the alleys of the old town, with houses whose architecture recalls the ancient origin of the town, stands the old tower that is visible throughout the valley.

The proximity to Lake Suviana offers the possibility of water sports activities, such as wind-surfing, renting canoes, pedalos and deckchairs. A few kilometres from the chief town, Badi is worth a visit, with its 17th-century church dedicated to San Prospero.
