Marzabotto

This town in the Apennines is located in the Reno river valley, not far from the site of the ancient Etruscan city of Kainua. Awarded the Medaglia d'oro al valor militare (Gold Medal of Military Valour), it houses the Sacrario (Memorial) that holds the remains of civilian victims and partisans who died in the ferocious massacre carried out by the Nazi-Fascists in 1944.

Two kilometres from the town centre are the Pompeo Aria National Etruscan Museum (Museo nazionale etrusco Pompeo Aria) and the archaeological area of the ancient city of Kainua, which can be admired by taking part in guided tours organised throughout the year.
